Over the years, I’ve built up a library of yoga nidra recordings. These are field recordings – often literally in a field at camps and festivals – and have all the ambience you’d expect from that.

I’ve packaged them up into collections of MP3 files totalling around 90 minutes per collection – some much longer. The standard price for a collection is £4. If you want to support my work and have the means, there’s a supporter price of £6.

5 elements woven collection

Whilst the underlying structure of the recordings I make is pure yoga nidra – settling, rotating around the body, exploring opposites, visualisations and grounding – the themes I choose to explore owe much more to my practices of journeying and dreaming, and to my knowledge of British ecology, folklore and magic. A…

This collection is a good place to start if you want to explore the different styles, techniques and elements that make up most yoga nidra forms. Different kinds of bodily rotations combine with different intentions, explorations of sensory opposites and visualisations. Most people will find they have clear preferences for one style…

Energy Bodies collection

There are a suite of practices, most of them called nyaasa, that survive from pre-modern texts. These involve mentally inscribing the body, part by part, with qualities, symbols, even deities, for diverse purposes. There are other techniques, more often Buddhist in origin, which involve travelling around the body in one’s awareness. But…

I have always loved leading yoga nidras out in the field – at just a few of the festivals and camps described in my research. It’s been a way of paying my entry into those spaces, but it’s also always lead to unexpected inspirations, and charming collaborations. I have recorded many of…

There is much about sleep that we do not understand. We can measure brain waves, but there is still no definitive research on what function dreams play for the brain, for example. While there is some fascinating speculative research available, the ability to confidently talk about theta and delta, trance levels or…

Safe and simple collection

For much of human history, the experience of resting safely has been denied to many. Many of us, no matter our level of personal privilege, education and resources, have trouble resting. Whilst yoga nidra is a practice that can lead to experiences of transcendence, healing and insight, one in which we can…

While trance-based practices can often be more accessible to disabled and/or neurodiverse populations, they are often taught from the perspective of the non-disabled and neurotypical. Simply put, the assumption is often made that what is comfortable or easy for the majority is comfortable or easy for all. Yet what helps us rest…
